The 5 Elements Hotel

Pasar Seni MRT is about a 7-minute walk away, and Petaling Street chinatown is right nearby, with plenty of street food options. We stayed five nights and felt safe and comfortable in a really clean hotel. The rooms, bed and mattress were clean, and the bathroom was tidy and in working order. Room service was very good. The attendants were nice and quick to come sort out any issue when we called. Breakfast was decent and had a decent range of options. The 5 elements was just too good. There’s also a spa and massage experience centre that’s worth trying if you’re on a leisure trip or want some relief. I couldn’t get any pictures, sorry. This was a great stay, and I’d choose it for a business trip, family holiday or couple’s stay at comparable rates.

The only thing going for this hotel was the location. We were on a group tour and had booked two rooms for our family. We weren’t expecting five-star treatment, just a decent room or good service to make up for things. Both rooms were in bad shape, dark, musty, with worn carpets and visible mold. The air conditioning didn’t work at all, so it was really uncomfortable. We called reception several times without getting an answer, then went downstairs ourselves. The staff were rude and dismissive. A technician came, briefly checked the A/C and told us to wait and see, but nothing got better. We spent over an hour sweating in the rooms. Before midnight, we had to check out and move to another hotel. Nobody apologized or tried to fix it or offer us another room. A very disappointing stay.

I was in an emergency and asked to use the washroom, but the front desk staff were unfriendly and arrogant. The night shift man at reception, I don’t know his name, suddenly told me it wasn’t a public toilet. Be friendly and kind to people. Don’t pull an arrogant face and act like you’re the boss. Poor service.

We had great views from the suite, straight toward Menara 118, with the Twin Towers and KL Tower visible from another angle. It was also easy to find food, visit Petaling Street, and get to other attractions. The room was clean and comfortable, with complete amenities, and worked really well for our family.
