YMCA Kuala Lumpur

The location worked well for us, close to KL Sentral and public transport, and we felt safe during our stay. After a terrible experience at our previous place, YMCA Kuala Lumpur Hotel was our last option, and we were genuinely happy with it. We arrived around 10 pm. The receptionist wasn't there, but the check-in still went smoothly: our deposit documents were ready and the key was waiting at the counter. Security had been told we were coming, and the guard handed us the key as soon as we arrived. There were three of us in a spacious, comfortable room with three single beds. The bathroom was outside the room and shared, but it was clean and well kept, much better than we expected. The housekeeping ladies were kind and attentive, checking whether we wanted the room cleaned or changed. It was a pleasant, clean and safe stay, especially after what we'd been through before.

It really feels like a home away from home in KL. Everyone's friendly, helpful and tolerant. The rooms are clean and well kept, with basic comfort and convenience for short or long trips and frequent travellers. Parking is well managed, affordable and feels safe, even in such a busy area. There's also a cozy cafe attached, with decent food at reasonable prices.

The cafe serves decent food and is open 9-9. The lifts are quick, and there's filtered water and hot water on tap. Showers have strong pressure, towels are good quality, and the facilities were clean. Rooms stayed cool. The hallways did smell of smoke.

The location is strategic, probably the main selling point apart from the YMCA vision. Otherwise, it's a very ordinary hostel with nothing special.
