The Serai Cottage Downtown Hotel

The second room was much better, wide and clean, with an iron board inside and away from the main road. That was a real surprise after our first night, when road noise came straight into the room and we couldn’t sleep. There were mosquitoes and a cockroach in the bathroom, and the iron was only in the hallway. We booked two nights on different dates, checking out after the first and then checking into the second room.

The room was just okay, and the cleanliness needs work. At RM149 per night with no breakfast, I didn’t think it was worth the price. Maybe the long weekend was why they charged more.

We were all okay with our stay and the room was enough for our family. The pool is behind the hotel, and parking is right in front. The rest was fine for our vacation. It doesn’t feel much like a hotel, but it worked for us.

There’s no soundproofing, so being by the roadside means you hear vehicles going past after midnight. The softboard walls also let noise through from the next room, especially when someone uses the toilet. The room is tiny and hard to pray in. At RM125 a night, it felt like a scam and more like a cheap motel. There’s no bathroom mat, the showerhead is broken, and there’s no kettle or Coway dispenser, though they do provide coffee and tea. It is near Mydin mall and Sabasun mart, a few minutes from the airport, and an easy trip to main town KT. For the same price, YT Midtown is the better choice.
