The convenient location and water cooler in the pantry are pluses. The room has Wi-Fi but no TV, and there’s no hairdryer, so bring one if you need it. Each person does get a bathing towel. There’s no mirror in the toilet, and the window faces a road where people talk loudly and cars honk in the middle of the night. Bring earplugs if that kind of noise keeps you awake. I also noticed a crack in the wooden floor by the bed and slight stains on the sheets, which may not wash out. If you can live with what’s missing, the location may make it worth booking. In Kuching, the water is safe for showering, washing your face, and brushing your teeth. For drinking and cooking, always buy bottled water.

For a budget one- to two-star hotel in town, this is recommended. On July 6th, 2024, my room was spacious, smelled good, and had a very nice, clean toilet inside. Seems best suited to solo travellers or couples. Towels, shower supplies, and soap were provided, and the Wi-Fi connection was excellent. There’s also a mini library, a lounge area on level 3, a microwave, and free-flow Cuckoo water. I was honestly amazed by how clean it was. Kudos to the staff! Check-in is at 2:00pm and checkout at 12:00pm. Early check-in costs RM 10.00 per hour before the regular time, so arriving at 11:00am and checking in early would mean RM30.00 extra. The waterfront is about a 10-minute walk away. A 24-hour 7-Eleven is just across the road, with food, restaurants, and a night bar nearby. The receptionist, the Muslim girl wearing a scarf, was awesome and humble.

There’s water and a microwave available, so you don’t have to buy those. The room was good for the price, and the place is clean, affordable, and well located in the middle of Padungan street, with lots of local shops, especially for food. The stairs are the drawback. They’re quite narrow, particularly if your room is on the 3rd floor, so getting luggage up can be difficult. Good for backpackers, but I wouldn’t really recommend it if you have a big suitcase.

I was told check-in was available until 12am, and got there around 11:10pm after my flight was delayed and traffic held me up. The receptionist at the counter wasn’t very friendly. Maybe she had something going on, but a smile would help, since guests don’t know what’s happening in your life or what you’re doing at the time. The room was small and basic, though still okay. I did love the decorations.
