OYO 44037 King Park Hotel

I stayed here for two nights. I arrived a little late and was tired, having booked the hotel ahead through Agoda. At reception I was told I had to pay extra because OYO hadn’t paid the hotel. I didn’t ask questions and just agreed at the time, but later I wondered why the hotel was charging customers more. They should only ask for a deposit and return the same amount at checkout. Problems between OYO and the hotel shouldn’t involve guests. That’s why I gave the hotel one star.

There was a rat in the room, so I didn’t sleep there and checked out right away. They had no other room to move us to, and the staff didn’t seem sorry. Of course, I didn’t get my money back. The booking process was a mess. I booked online, but at check-in the receptionist said my room had already been booked and paid for, though the website hadn’t updated. OYO’s price and the hotel’s price were different too, so I had to top up a few bucks. The room wasn’t stuffy, but that didn’t make up for the rat or the booking trouble.

The room itself was small but in nice condition, and all the lights worked. The fridge ran, though it barely got cold, and the free WiFi connected but was too unreliable to use. There were two bottles of water, a kettle and mugs, plus shampoo, lotion and soap, but no coffee. The bed was hard, there were no outlets by it, and the duvet looked wrinkled. The tea spoon and coffee tray were marked, the safe was locked, and the window glass was dirty and marked. It also wouldn't close properly. TV reception was limited and blurry, some local channels weren't available because Freeview wasn't applied, and the TV was dusty. The light beneath the TV desk had no bulb. There was hair on the floor and not many hangers. The iron cord hadn't been arranged neatly. The bathroom had a slight urine smell, soap scum on the shower's marble wall, a cracked hair dryer, and tissue rolls that hadn't been refilled. The door made noise, there was no bidet hose, and water pressure was low. The air conditioning suddenly turned warm and dripped water. The entrance had no doorbell or peephole, and there was no qibla sign. The hotel was easy to find, though its location is hidden, and the outside looked nice. Inside, the lobby was cool and nicely decorated, with tables and chairs for waiting. I waited less than ten minutes for the room, and check-in took under five. A MYR 50 deposit was required. The receptionist gave us the room number and floor but didn't mention whether WiFi was available or provide a password. The lift reaches the upper floors but moved slowly, its floor looked scratched, and the guest floor was dimly lit. I checked in on Friday, November 1, 2019, at 13:49, and got room 302 on the third floor. My preferences were the highest floor, a corner room, no connecting door, and double amenities, all yes. I didn't want to be far from the guest elevator. I'd recommend the hotel to business and budget travelers, couples or honeymooners, disabled guests, and families with kids. Not for groups or delegations, or weddings and seminars.

The towels had holes, and the sheets smelled like they might have been used already. Please change the bed and pillow covers. The water heater also wasn't working properly.
