Hotel Tengkera

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but the car park is a blessing if you’re driving to Jonker Street (Jalan Hang Jebat). Skip the bumper-to-bumper traffic and the stress of trying to park right at Jonker, then walk about 5 minutes to Jonkers. It costs 5RM as a one-time fee, paid to the uncle running the car park.

The stay was comfortable and there’s free parking. It’s a good choice if you want to experience local accommodation in an older building, and the price isn’t expensive, but don’t expect the same facilities you’d get elsewhere. Before booking, know that the bathroom is extremely small and the water heater takes a long time to warm up. The wireless network never worked.

We had enough room for a day or two, with one large bed and a single. The larger bed has a phone table and a charging point nearby, though the single-bed area doesn't. The room and toilet were both an okay size, and you can adjust the hot water temperature. The place is pleasant, the staff are easy to talk to, and it's close to Jonker Walk. I didn't try the TV or Wi-Fi since I had my own data. It's a single-storey hotel.

The uncle was nice, and there’s a large free car park. Quite a few places to eat are within walking distance, and you can refill water for free. The Wi-Fi only worked near the front desk and wouldn't connect in our room. The dispensers weren't working properly, either, and the water came out cold and in small amounts. Washing my hair was a tiring job.
