Beds were clean and comfortable, and the hostel itself was simple and clean too. The toilets were standard Malaysian style and got cleaned regularly. Good value for the money, I'd recommend it for sure.

A laid-back place with a very friendly owner. It wasn't crowded, and the price was good. A lovely hostel if you're looking to wind down a bit from the busier hostels.

The owner was nice, and there was free coffee and crackers in the kitchen. I met some lovely people and would definitely come back. The place has a relaxed, easygoing feel, with restaurants nearby and the river and Jonker walk just a few steps away.

I booked two nights and was furious about how check-in went. It's meant to be available from 2:00 PM. I got to the hostel around 3:15 PM, tired from the Melaka heat and humidity and carrying a heavy backpack, but nobody was there to help. The host answered the number in my booking confirmation and said he was out eating and would be back in about an hour. He asked my name, then said he couldn't find a reservation for me. I sent screenshots of my confirmed booking, reservation number, and payment proof from the booking platform, but he repeated that there was no booking and said he couldn't accept me. He made no effort to sort it out. With no immediate alternative, I waited over an hour in the heat for something that clearly wasn't my fault. When he and the staff returned a little over an hour later, they greeted me with reluctant, unwelcoming expressions. After some back-and-forth, they checked the platform on their PC and found my reservation. The host had relied on email notifications instead of checking the system itself. He looked a little embarrassed once he realized the mistake, but didn't apologize. He just told a staff member to check me in. I held back my anger because I had nowhere else to go, gave a sarcastic smile, paid the balance, and got a quick rundown of the facilities. During my two-night stay, the host ignored me whenever we crossed paths, as if I wasn't there. I'd never been treated so coldly and humiliatingly before. I understand now what another reviewer meant by “selective hospitality,” and still wonder what I did to be one of the “unselected.” Putting my experience with the host aside, the hostel had a decent, laid-back hippie vibe and a fairly good location. But the showers were extremely poor and the overall cleanliness was lacking. The mixed dorm's air conditioner barely cooled the room, more lukewarm than refreshing. I came back around 4 PM to rest, but the bed right under the AC was so warm I started sweating as soon as I lay down. It creaked loudly too, and wasn't comfortable.
