The Tree Hotel

It’s a budget place, and the themed room is basically a standard double with some decorations. The stay was comfortable overall, and the price is affordable. There’s a water heater with a pump, so the shower works well, plus a water dispenser in the lobby and several restaurants within walking distance. There’s no complimentary tea or coffee. The kettle had that typical stale kettle smell, and the Astro channels are limited, with no channel list provided.

The rooms were filthy when we finally got in. The sheets hadn’t been changed or the rooms cleaned, and the bathroom seat had black stains. Everything looked as though the previous guests had just left it behind. We called to ask for fresh sheets because it was so gross. We stayed only because it was one night and we weren’t going to spend much time in the room. I wanted to speak with the manager at checkout, but apparently they weren’t there. Check-in was meant to be at 2 p.m. We arrived at 2:05, with my two elderly parents, and the caretaker, Miya, said the rooms weren’t ready until 3. He was rude and spoke as if we were at fault for arriving early, even though check-in time had already passed. The counter staff member stayed silent while he did all the talking. I don’t understand why he was acting like the supervisor when it wasn’t his job. We’d booked two rooms and neither was ready, yet he spent time telling us to come back at 3 instead of starting to clean. I told him he could have been cleaning rather than wasting time at the counter. Since we’d paid, I had to leave my parents waiting in an area with just two chairs. Rude staff, dirty rooms, and a terrible experience. I’d advise people to avoid this hotel.

The hotel feels fairly new and was clean, and it’s a comfortable place. There are pubs nearby, though, so it gets noisy late at night. No convenience store, grocery shop, or laundry nearby, but those are only a drive away.

You get what you pay for, so don’t expect much from a one- or two-star hotel. The rooms are tiny, even the family room, and I had to pray on the bed. The kettle was dusty and there are a lot of stairs, so don’t bring a heavy bag. It’s okay, not great, but not that bad either.
