Halo Hotel

The room was okay for cleanliness, but the twin room mattresses need replacing. I had to sleep on top of the blanket so I wouldn’t feel the springs. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, at least one of them, though I forgot to ask his name. Thanks so much for helping! The hotel is also well placed between the city and the jetty.

The lobby was clean and the location was alright, but the room itself was seriously dirty. The room and bathroom looked untouched for months, with cobwebs, toothpaste marks, hair on the sheets, bits of trash, cockroaches, ants, and dust on the headboard and floor. It’s the dirtiest hotel room I’ve come across.

I’d give this place zero stars if I could. There were cockroaches, ants and spiders in the rooms, and it looked like nobody had cleaned before we checked in, with cobwebs and dust everywhere. My travel mates had the same conditions, so I didn’t bother asking to change rooms. The owner is being totally irresponsible running a hotel in such a dilapidated, unhygienic state.

The room was small and had ants, and the barking outside made it hard to sleep. There were around 10 stray dogs on the street in front of the hotel, barking constantly at night. We had no WiFi in our room during all three days of our stay. We asked the staff several times to fix it, but nobody seemed to care. They were so indifferent that they didn’t say hi once or say a word when we checked out. In my three months of travel in Asia, this was the worst customer service I’ve experienced. It’s one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at. I know Semporna doesn’t have many options, but I’d definitely pick somewhere else.
