Uptown Hotel

After a full day in the sun, we loved coming back to a cozy room with cold air-conditioning. It was spacious, with a comfortable bed, and everything was clean. The hot and cold water dispenser is next to the lift, and the front desk service was excellent. We were also within walking distance of Semporna jetty for our island tour and good seafood restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back!

The service was quick and friendly, and the small touches made the stay comfortable: extra hangers for drying clothes, a distinctive lift, water dispensers on every floor, and porridge at breakfast. The rooms were clean, and the location is strategic, close to shops and just a five-minute walk from the jetty and popular seafood restaurants.

The staff were courteous and nice, and the rooms decent and comfortable. The location is central and close to the pier. There was a Coway water dispenser just outside our room and a spin machine for drying swimsuits. We also had to pay an RM100 safety deposit on arrival. There were a few hiccups. The lift broke down while we were trying to check in, and we were stuck inside for about 30 minutes before a technician came to get us out. It got hot and stuffy, though at least it was a glass lift, so it wasn't too claustrophobic and people could see us. Our room was noisy, partly because of where it was, and we heard dogs barking outside and cats fighting at night. Breakfast was disappointing. At 8 a.m., there was nothing we wanted, only porridge and no rice or noodles, so we walked somewhere else to eat.

The room was super clean, and the hotel is a reasonable walk from the jetty. There’s a water dispenser in the hallway. Breakfast was a farce, just four slices of toast and a hard-boiled egg.
