I stayed four nights, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My bed was comfortable, though it only had a thin blanket at first. They brought a thicker second one when I asked. I also liked the wide desk, and the hot water was plentiful and very hot. The website says WiFi isn't available in every room. Mine, room 101, mostly worked well, even through a three-hour video call with just two small glitches. The thin curtains let in a lot of light, and a locked door between my room and the next was so thin I could hear everything, including a guest snoring one night. I managed mostly with an eye mask and earplugs.

Food areas are within walking distance, the location is good, and the room was clean. The pillows were a little thin. I understand there's no air-conditioning in the Highlands and the windows are kept open for ventilation, but mosquitoes can get into the room that way. Mosquito netting on the windows would help, and please put a fan in the room. I'm writing this at 3:20am because mosquito bites are itching and one pesky mosquito keeps buzzing around my ears while I try to kill it.

The beds were comfortable, and Mom was especially grateful for the good piped hot water in all the bathrooms. There are different room options, from simple single beds to king-sized family rooms, as well as chalet-style family accommodation. Parking inside the compound is limited, but there's plenty of free parking in the adjacent shop lot row next to the inn. We could walk out for breakfast and dinner nearby, which made the stay enjoyable for our two-night retreat during my big brother's short college break. Our parents usually book around Tanah Rata, and we suspect this inn's main draw is its tea house, something the other places we'd stayed didn't have. Embun, the quaint, homely tea house by the reception and check-in counter, has a small menu focused on breakfast and tea breaks. It's well maintained, with a thoughtfully put-together selection of light meals and tea-time treats at reasonable prices. Many are local specialties, especially the scones and fruit conserve. Highly recommended for a family group.

Their homemade jam comes with the scones, which are the BEST in town, maybe even the best in the world. Get a serving for yourself. Once you take a bite, you won't want to share it 🤭

The experience was truly disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend it at all. The room we got wasn't the one shown on the booking platform. It was in a single-storey building with a staircase that felt unsafe because the steps were very small and steep. There was no hot water in that building, so we had to use those stairs to walk over to the reception building for hot water. Soundproofing was extremely poor, and we could clearly hear other guests. Housekeeping was unsatisfactory too: water bottles weren't replenished and the sheets weren't changed daily unless we reminded staff every single day. There wasn't enough parking either.
