For overlanders, the large secure parking lot attached to the hotel was the best part. We also found a Vodacom store just 350m away on foot, handy if you’ve just arrived in Mozambique. We needed one night in Maputo and had struggled to find parking on our previous visit. The $99 stay wasn’t cheap, but full breakfast was included. The room was spacious and clean, with a spotless bathroom. There was a nice pool, though bad weather kept us from using it, which obviously wasn’t the hotel’s fault. They had an employee escort us with a master key instead of giving us room keys. We’d had key issues in Maputo before, so it wasn’t a big deal.

The security protocols make this a much safer-feeling place for anyone looking for that. At the same time, restrictions on having acquaintances socialize with you in your room can feel uncomfortable.

VIP Maputo had a lively, vibrant feel, and the food was incredible. Service was prompt and friendly too. I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend it.

I’ve stayed here twice on business trips, and I do appreciate the service. The hotel has a great environment, good security, friendly staff, and nice food. Basilio and Haider were especially helpful. It’s one of the best places in Maputo, and I’m looking forward to visiting again.

The building is nice, but the cleaning of the rooms and gallery really needs to improve.
