We had a great stay here. The grounds are well kept and there’s plenty of shade. The facilities were good, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The best pitches are right on the river, with the falls just there. Sitting on the deck for a sundowner feels dramatic, almost as if it’s hanging above the falls. When the river is running high, you can hear them roaring in the background.

It was a very hot day, so we chose the shady Gondwana campsite beside the river. There’s also a community campsite higher up the hill, with lovely views of Epupa Falls. That one is very rustic, but nice.

We loved this campsite by the river. The bar deck sits just above the falls, and it’s the closest lodge campsite to them.

We went on a nature walk with Kamburu, one of the guides, and really enjoyed talking with him. He pointed out different bird species, crocodiles, and the beautiful nature around the area, and we learned more about Namibian and Himba culture. At Epupa Falls Lodge we stayed for two nights. The rooms were great, the food delicious, and the workers very friendly. The view of the Epupa falls was gorgeous!

The campsite is beautiful, right beside the falls, with a wonderful river terrace and good ablutions. But after six months travelling in Africa, this was our third-worst campsite experience, after Dwesa-Cwebe NR in South Africa and Mababe River Lodge and Campsite in Botswana. The staff were terrible, and the restaurant wasn’t really a restaurant. We arrived around 12:30 and asked if we could eat. The waitress said she’d check, then came back with a menu. The irritated chef said the only option was spaghetti bolognese. We declined and asked if they could make two eggs with bacon and toast. They said no, those were only served at breakfast, even though they had the ingredients. Lunch was over before it began 😂 We also mentioned that there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. They told us guests had to bring their own. There was no manager, and the owner wasn’t there. I’d suggest the owner hire a good manager to sort out the poor staff management and help guests leave with a good memory of this wonderful place, not the bad one of having to clean yourself with your fingers if you don’t have toilet paper 🧻🤣🤣🤣 Update: Two Swiss friends we met at the campsite invited us for a sunset drink on the terrace. At 20:00 the staff turned off the lights and told us to leave. Unbelievable. Update 2 for the owner: you can’t find our details because the staff didn’t register us when we arrived yesterday, 20 June 2025, at about 11:50.
