The people here made this our favourite part of the holiday, and I’d gladly return. Ongula Homestead Village offers a rare cultural experience that was fun, immersive, and educational. The locals and lodge crew were incredibly kind. We enjoyed the beautiful, clean, comfortable rooms, with options for couples and families, and the Namibian traditional food. Make time for the Ovambo homestead village tour and the nearby academies that support the community. It was a memorable stay.

There’s room for camping vehicles, though the camping area ablutions could use some improvement. The lodge is eco-friendly, with comfortable rooms and hot shower water. Meals combine Namibian food with other influences, including “marathon chicken” in sauce and plenty of millet dishes.

We had a wonderful stay and would happily revisit the lodge. The crew and locals were amazing, and they even serve Namibian wine, whisky, and other delicacies. We recommend making time for the nearby ovambo homestead village and joining one of the tours.

We came expecting to camp, but ended up staying in the rooms. The resort is part of a local homestead and training center for locals, and the service made us feel professionally looked after while still like guests in a friend’s home. It was an inspiring place to stay. I’d highly recommend dinner and the tour, which shared so much about local life and included hands-on activities for the whole family.

Our host Neil made the days feel truly special, and the accommodation was phenomenal. We had a fantastic traditional dinner, learned a lot about Ovambo culture, and shared lovely moments with the locals and our guide Sibo.
