Oyster Box Guesthouse

Reception sorted out an extra room for me at no extra charge, since someone had cancelled and two friends were sharing one room. The staff were friendly, the place was clean and breakfast was nice. I stayed one night and found it decent. The room WiFi wasn't great, and the price felt just a little high.

We could leave the car in the enclosed off-road parking lot even after checkout, which was really handy. Breakfast was good, with fruit, bread, continental options and eggs cooked fresh, and the dining area looks out over the sea. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the location worked well for some of the area's better restaurants and tour companies. Everyone on staff we met was pleasant.

The sea view was great, and the lounge and dining room were neat. The passage from the parking area to the rooms was dark and felt unsafe. In our double room there was only one chair, and no tea, coffee or milk, or anything in the fridge for drinks. The toilet didn't smell fresh. The staff were friendly but didn't understand our orders. The eggs came out much too hard, even though I had said how I wanted them. There was just one passion fruit cut in half for more than six guests.

We had a warm, heartfelt stay. The host called cabs, made bookings, arranged activities and researched things we wanted to do. The neighbourhood felt safe, and restaurants and the tourist area for activities were within walking distance. The place is beautiful, with lovely views, and the lagoon is so close you can jog along it. I took off a star because breakfast really needs to improve, a lot. Apart from that, I'd definitely consider coming back.
