Joe’s Beerhouse is only 800 meters away, a fun place to try local food and culture. Founded in 1991 by German chef Joachim “Joe” Gross, this iconic Windhoek spot has a lively mix of African and German influences, with walls full of quirky collected memorabilia. Elegant Guesthouse itself sits in a quiet neighborhood, a little away from the city center. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the simple breakfast is perfectly adequate. Staff are friendly and professional. There’s no restaurant at the guesthouse.

The courtyard with its swimming pool was lovely, and our room was clean with a very comfortable bed and superb shower. The staff were really friendly. They helped us order taxis and arranged a breakfast pack for our early morning departure.

The hotel is beautiful and in a quiet area, and the food is good. But during the 30 minutes we were at breakfast, with our room door closed, hundreds of euros and Namibian dollars were taken from my room by hotel staff. The staff did nothing to help, and the police had to get involved. Worst experience ever. Very dishonest people, I don’t recommend it.

The guesthouse is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood and is decorated with taste and simplicity. Matilda prepared a delicious breakfast, and there’s a pool for relaxing. It’s a bit far from the city center, so getting around can be difficult unless you have a car.
