We had a really good dinner here, even on a busy Friday night. The staff were friendly and service came quickly. Food was still being served at 10 pm when we arrived at 9, and dinner for two with a starter and main each plus two drinks came to about 95 euros. There's an enormous wine list and lots of soft drinks too. The dishes were delicious, with surprising combinations that worked well, and the portions were generous. A starter and main should be enough for most people, though there are tempting desserts if you're especially hungry. The restaurant has lovely vibes, and it's about an hour's walk from Dam Square. One of the best dinners I've had.

I first tried this place because I could walk there from Hotel Casa Amsterdam, then returned for a celebration after a successful presentation. The meal really was excellent, and the ambiance was lovely too. Someone suggested a buttery white wine with the fish of the day. I thought that description sounded absurd, but there actually was a buttery note, and I didn't get a hint of a hangover. We quickly warmed to the staff. From what I observed, they knew the menu and cared about the food, and seemed more like guides than servants. That's my impression, anyway. I suspect any lower ratings may have been about service, because the food and atmosphere were both so good. I wish I'd gone when I stayed at Hotel Casa seven years earlier.

We had a bottle of cider that was excellent, and the fish and vegetables were great too. Service was friendly and quick. It felt especially cozy and had a very nice atmosphere in winter. I'd definitely recommend it.

The service was reasonably good, but dinner took too long to arrive and the food wasn't worth the price. The dishes looked much better on the menu than they did on the plate. We got cold aubergine with old baked parmesan and boiled egg, and duck with beans that tasted as if they'd come straight from a can. The dessert was bad too. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for Christmas dinner.

The Christmas dinner here is awful. The food is nasty, unimaginative, and made with cheap ingredients. I might as well become a chef. And they have their staff post positive fake reviews too. How low can you get? This unicorn has lost its horn.
