This was my second stay at Blaine’s, and I have family in Amsterdam. I enjoyed it even more than the first time. It really feels like visiting a friend, since Blaine is there for you and makes the place feel welcoming and genuine. He prepares a full, delicious breakfast each morning, with plenty of energy for exploring Amsterdam. Over a friendly chat, he gives good advice on what to see, from the main sights to less touristy places, and recommends fantastic neighborhood restaurants with much better value for money than the crowded tourist areas. He can also arrange a private dinner on his cozy terrace, which is a real luxury in Amsterdam. We chose the fourth-floor room, one of the two rooms at Blaine’s, with direct access to the terrace. Tram 2 or Bus 2 is a five-minute walk away and takes you downtown to the main attractions. I wanted to write this review to recognize all Blaine's effort. I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

We found the room very clean and nicely set up, with games, coffee, tea, and a large table. It has plenty of space, plus a loft that gives it the feel of two rooms in one. We couldn't really enjoy the well-designed terrace because of the bad weather, but it has a nice view. The B&B is far enough from the city center to be relatively quiet and away from the bustle. Depending on the rate, breakfast is included or available for a small charge, and I highly recommend it. Blaine makes a fantastic breakfast, and you'll be fully satisfied. This was great value. A few things to know if you're visiting from out of town: parking in Amsterdam is extremely expensive, about 45 euros a day, and as Blaine kept saying, the city isn't car friendly. The B&B is on the fourth floor with no elevator and fairly steep stairs, so big, heavy bags can be a workout. There's no TV in the room. One person in our group always falls asleep to a TV, but we made a tablet and streaming service work. If you're set on watching TV, you may be disappointed. The bathroom and terrace are semi-private. To reach the bathroom, you leave the B&B room and go into a shared corridor at the top of the stairs. Presumably only guests use it, but you might want to avoid late-night trips there in semi-clothed attire.

Blaine is very friendly, and his little puppy Lexie is so cute! The rooms, toilets, and bathroom were comfortable and very clean. Blaine gave us really useful advice on finding cheap parking, since parking in Amsterdam is very expensive. The flat is two minutes from a supermarket and five minutes on foot from the bus and tram. It's also in a very quiet part of Amsterdam. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the place for your next trip :-)

The big shared lounge has a kitchen, books, games and plenty more, and you can make tea or coffee there. There were soft drinks in the fridge too. We stayed in the Nepal room, which had what we needed, including a TV, sink, balcony and fast Wi-Fi. The shared bathroom, with a bath and a separate toilet, was all ours since the other room was empty. Peter & Blaine, along with their lovely cat and dog, made us feel at home right away. The house is nicely decorated and has a floral scent. I’d happily recommend this B&B.

Blaine gave us such attentive service. A traditional B&B with a really comfortable bed and a complete breakfast.
