Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam

We were a group of five staying for two nights. At check-in, the reception staff were warm, kind and helpful, and they upgraded one of our rooms to a suite. Both rooms were spacious, clean and warm. Tim at reception was especially helpful and nice, even printing us a two-page list of restaurants and coffee shops based on his own recommendations.

The hotel was good value, with a fantastic location close to everything we needed. Our room was clean, fresh and comfortable, and the service stayed friendly and attentive from beginning to end. We even got a souvenir at checkout, a thoughtful personal touch. We were very happy here and would definitely come back. Highly recommended.

Our stay was a nightmare. There were bed bugs, the room was far too hot, and the windows couldn’t actually be opened. It completely ruined our trip. When we complained, the staff responded robotically, as if following a standard script. After reading other comments, I found out our experience wasn’t unique. I really do not recommend this place if you want to have a good time in Amsterdam.

The location was great for walking everywhere, and the metro was very convenient too. For my partner’s birthday, the brilliant staff upgraded us and gave us coupons for birthday drinks. We also got a hotel fridge magnet as a leaving gift. They were always happy to help, and we’ll definitely stay here again.
