We booked a double room for two and got one with four beds, so there was lots of room, plus a lovely view of the busy street. Great value and a perfect location. The stairs are the one little drawback: narrow and steep. We managed, but they could be hard for some people.

The beds were full of hair, and after checking out at 10:30, I went back at 11 to return the key card. The owner saw that I was out and said they had to keep the €10. They also charge €10 for the card and €3.00 for a towel, on top of about €900 for four days. First and last time here. I've never seen a hostel this bad. Don't book this hotel.

A comfortable bed and a no-frills room, good enough if all you need is sleep. It's right on a main road with tram stops, lots of breakfast places nearby and a coffeeshop downstairs, which is a bonus for some. Central Station is a ten-minute walk. Check-in and check-out were quick, and the staff were friendly.

For affordable accommodation without extras, this is one of the better central Amsterdam options. The main city centre attractions are close by, and there's a bus and train station just across the street. It's also very handy for getting around, with Amsterdam Central Station only five minutes away by bus.

The location made it easy to explore on foot. I walked from the station to the hostel, then across Amsterdam to the sights. Check-in was straightforward, the booking information explained what to do, and the staff were friendly. I knew what I'd booked, and the basic single room was fine, with a sink in the corner and a view of the main street. On a very hot day, though, the lack of aircon was rough. Housekeeping kindly brought a fan after my first night, which helped a little, though it didn't work very well. The bathroom is shared by the floor, and I didn't enjoy it. The toilet was really gross, apparently because other guests hadn't cleaned up after themselves. The shower and toilet are squeezed into the same small room, which gets very hot, and the water pressure was low. You're also above a Dutch coffee shop, so the air always smells of weed. The staircase is extremely tight, as my photos show, and isn't suitable for big suitcases or anyone afraid of steep stairs.
