Hotel Museumzicht

The people working here were the best part for me, so friendly, polite and helpful. The rooms were clean and well kept, and the building itself is beautiful, though the stairs are steep. It’s also brilliantly placed: Museumplein is a two-minute walk away, the airport express bus stops just around the corner, and tram lines 2, 5 and 12 are nearby. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. I’d absolutely come back to this hotel next time I’m in Amsterdam.

The location is the main reason to consider this place. We got a prime spot for the cheapest price we could find that wasn’t a hostel, and it did the job, but I won’t stay here again. We booked five nights at the last minute after our other trip was cancelled. The building felt very dated and shoddy, more like a B&B than a hotel, and there was little privacy because sound carried between rooms. The stairs to reception and the rooms were shockingly steep, and we struggled with our 20kg suitcase. Breakfast came with the room. It was basic but good quality, and having our own bathroom was nice compared with the room itself. The shower was the best thing there. If you’re okay with the obvious flaws, you may not regret staying, but I probably would have gone somewhere else if it weren’t for the location.

I felt safe here travelling alone, and the staff were kind throughout. They even let me leave my luggage after checkout. The place was clean, and breakfast was cute. My individual room was very cozy. It didn’t have its own bathroom, but the shared one was right next door. There was also a sink in the room, which was handy. The area felt relaxed and was close to the museums, with the city centre about a 20-minute walk away. The airport bus stops literally a block from the hotel, which I loved. The stairs are really steep and there’s no lift, though that didn’t bother me. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The service was excellent and they were very accommodating. Our room was adorable, and the clean bathroom and shower were well kept. Breakfast was simple and just right. It’s a charming vintage hotel in a great location. The stairs are steep, so bear that in mind since there’s no elevator.
