The staff were very friendly, and guests got a small Valentine’s Day gift. There’s also free coffee, tea and water in the downstairs lounge. We found everything clean and tidy. You might spot minor flaws if you look closely, but nothing bothered us. The location is very central, with most places reachable on foot. Waterlooplein station is about a 10-minute walk away, and Melkweg is close by, which mattered a lot to us. The downside is noise: rooms facing the street can be loud, and a large nightclub behind the hotel sends bass music late into the night. Check the exact location before booking. If that noise doesn’t bother you, the stay is absolutely fine. Our room was cosy, recently renovated and nicely designed, with a small coffee tray and a safe for valuables. The bed was quite soft and rather small for a double. There’s an elevator to the floors, though the attic rooms need a few extra stairs. The small bathroom was also recently renovated and had a nice walk-in shower, but the water pressure was quite weak. We stayed two nights and would likely return. The location and price-performance ratio worked well for us.

The staff were excellent, and you can’t beat this place for the price. We stayed three nights with our son. It’s within walking distance of anything in central Amsterdam, and the rooms were pretty decent, clean and nicely renovated, with an art deco look. Our attic room was one flight above where the elevator ends. Getting up there wasn’t too difficult, and it was well worth the extra effort.

The room felt extremely tight, with barely enough space to move around. There was nowhere to leave a suitcase open without putting it in the way. They do provide a kettle and mini fridge, but no iron or board. You can ask reception for one. The hotel has modern interiors and a coffee machine in the lobby, and the staff were helpful. Its canal location has lovely views, with a quick walk to the tram stop and about 15 minutes on foot to the city centre.

Our trip to Amsterdam was great, and staying at Hotal Oscar made it even better. The staff members were very caring. We had an excellent stay, and I’d recommend it 100%.

The location is great, within walking distance of the main attractions, but the room was small. I’m writing this at 2.20 in the morning because I haven’t been able to sleep. Bass noise from an adjoining property makes it feel like you’re in a nightclub, and when it kicks in, the room vibrates. I spoke with the staff, but nothing could be done. This is the fourth night in a row, so I’d imagine it happens every night. Very disappointing.
