The bed had bedbugs, and for me the itching can last about a month. The showers, toilet, and floors were filthy, with leaks on the carpet that smelled and looked moldy. There were no curtains, and toilet paper and soap had run out. I spent 20 minutes cleaning the shower and toilet myself. The kitchen only had boiling water coming out of the tap, and the tiny space had nowhere to sit and eat, just room to prepare food. I would have lunch, dinner, and breakfast before checking out. Bring flip-flops, gloves, toilet paper, soap, cleaning supplies, and maybe a plastic mattress cover or extra sheets if you come here. The room was double-booked, not a no-show. I sometimes work 16-18 hours in a row, so getting at least seven hours of sleep before the next shift matters a lot. In the middle of the night a couple woke me up, angry and saying they had paid and booked my bed. We found out we had both paid for it, then spent an hour discussing options and trying to reach reception, but nobody answered. In the end they slept in their car. In the morning I told the staff guests shouldn't be treated like that. The first response was just to email a complaint, and it took about five minutes before anyone really engaged. There didn't seem to be any plan to address the bedbugs for future guests. The staff were very nice and communicative, but they wouldn't compensate for the damage and poor service. I asked for 10 euros back and they wouldn't call the manager, so they offered it directly. By then I didn't want it anymore. For the price, this place puts your health at risk and doesn't cover basic needs like food access, sleep, or hygiene. I can't recommend it. Good luck, and I hope things improve.

We ended up leaving and paying for another night at a clean hostel, and we're still waiting for a refund. The walls and sheets were dirty, with what looked like blood stains, and the bathrooms were filthy, with clogged sinks and showers. Insects of several kinds were crawling over the beds and walls, and their bites caused rashes, bleeding, and allergic reactions. We emailed the hostel several times and asked to speak with the manager or owner, but they wouldn't respond or take responsibility. This place felt unsafe and unsanitary, a serious health risk. If this happens to other guests, it can and should be reported to the Amsterdam health authorities.

The photos online don't show what the place is really like and need updating. During my three nights, the toilet was always dirty, the showers didn't work, and there were no curtains. I also saw exposed electrical wires hanging from the wall and ceiling, and blood stains left by previous guests from squashed bedbugs. I wouldn't stay here again, even if it were my only option.

The toilets were awful: no water came through in some places, some seats had feces on them, and there was shaved hair in the sink. I wondered why two nights cost only €37, which is very cheap for Amsterdam. I found out when I got into bed. The linen had looked clean before I lay down, but after struggling to sleep and scratching constantly, I used my phone torch at 3 a.m. and saw large red bedbugs crawling over the sheet and blood stains all over it. The only other guy sharing the room switched on the light, told me there was a bedbug infestation, and laughed when I jumped out of bed. Bugs were all over the walls and crawling on the floor. I ran out half dressed, leaving all my clothes in the bin, worth £110. Reception was closed then, and I paid €111 for a proper hotel. The Moroccan guy at reception hadn't bothered to tell me about the problem. The next day, a hostel receptionist told me every room in the building, including reception, was heavily infested with bedbugs and mites. I left my bag and everything in it, including an electronic toothbrush worth £169, after seeing blood on the toothbrush. I only took my passport and the jeans I was wearing. I would've slept on the street rather than stay there another night.

There were insects everywhere, including on the bed, walls, and in the bathroom, so sleeping was impossible. The room smelled bad, cleanliness was nowhere to be found, and the hostel was in horrible condition. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe there. It's a complete waste of money and time, and I'd strongly recommend avoiding it. There are much better options elsewhere. This was the worst hostel experience I've ever had, and the place shouldn't be considered a hostel at all.
