The location was a real treat. We'd sit on the bench outside with coffee, then wander around and stumble across pretty canals and lovely spots. Our room was clean, spacious and quirky, with a super comfy bed, and we got lots of suggestions for places to visit in Jordaan. Anna & Ad were kind and welcoming while still giving us privacy. We arrived in Amsterdam early in the morning, and Anna kindly let us check in hours before the stated time. With our late flight, we could also leave our bags well past checkout instead of carrying them around the city. My partner and I had an amazing stay at Studio53. We'd absolutely recommend Ad & Anna's place, and hope to come back soon!

A quiet neighborhood and a downstairs, one unit studio that works well for two people. The shower and bath are nice and large.

Dear xxx,yyy, We've only just read your findings, and we're sorry this happened. Our Japanese is very limited, and there wasn't enough communication at the time because your English and ours didn't match. We only understood that your friend had an allergy, and didn't learn more until later, when we realized there were moths in the beautiful wool rug. We threw it away straight away. We don't use shampoo left by guests for environmental reasons. There is shampoo and body soap in the shower, so guests have a choice. It's a shame we didn't get to talk about it together. We hope we may welcome you again in our apartment, which now has air conditioning. Kind regards, Ad & Anna

I regretted choosing this place despite its nice location. The room smelled musty and dusty, and its only window was small and set in the ceiling, so airing it out was nearly impossible. My wife and I started having allergy symptoms soon after we arrived. It was in the apartment's basement, and the heating was set to 18 degrees Celsius and took a long time to warm back up. There was dust everywhere, including under the pillow, along with cobwebs and dead bugs in the corners. It really didn't seem clean. The listing on Booking.con mentioned free toiletries, but we found only partly used body cream and hairspray, with no shampoo or body soap. The fridge, sink and kettles were outside the room in the shared entrance hall, where there were lots of leftovers from previous guests. The basic kitchen and fridge were in a shared area with the owner, so they couldn't be used freely. We paid over €800 for four nights and deeply regret staying there. For that budget we could have found a much better, proper hotel. The other account says around 130,000 yen for the same four nights and suggests a four-star hotel would have been a better choice.
