The staff were very kind and helpful whenever I spoke with them, and the bridge house has a beautiful view. We liked watching the boats on the canal, and our favorite moment was seeing the canal and houses through the windows from bed at night. The location is nice too, if you can ignore the constant stream of people crossing the bridge. I wanted to love the place, but left disappointed. On Amsterdam’s hottest day, at 32°, the air conditioning stopped working and the bridge house turned into an oven. It got so hot we considered leaving for another hotel. We stayed because of the price, and the hotel sent someone to repair it 1.5 days later. They also brought fans. The cleanliness was another problem. There was bird droppings and graffiti on the outside windows, scuff marks all over the walls inside, and the windows were very dusty and crumbly. The carpets were filthy and need replacing. We bought cleaning wipes and cleaned the windows and counters ourselves. I don’t want to be negative, but we wouldn’t return. 6/10.

The canal intersection view is beautiful, and staying here in 2023 was one of the most unique hotel experiences I’ve had. The streetcar right outside can make it a bit loud at night. If you want a distinctive place to stay in Amsterdam, this is it.

The canal view was probably the best part of our stay. Boats passed all day, and bridge tenders arrived on bikes or scooters to work on the bridge just a meter or two from the window. There was always something happening, but things settled down at night and the city felt peaceful. We got a real feel for life in Amsterdam and would consider booking here again. It’s a small bridge house right on the street, so you notice the difference from a conventional building, though the heavy security door and blackout curtains gave us privacy and quiet inside. People and trams are audible, but neither bothered us. It was clean and comfortable, and the tram stops right outside. Central Amsterdam is about a 5-minute bike ride or a 15-25 minute walk, while getting out of the city is easy too. There are good restaurants and bars a short walk away, a great breakfast place up the street, and a bike shop across the road for rentals. Cycling is definitely the best way to experience Amsterdam. The bridge house is small but handy for seeing everything. The interior layout is unusual because the toilet is in a closet-sized room just inside the entry, with a second door between the entryway and the living and sleeping area. That extra door is nice, as it separates the room from the street. The shower is small and sits in the living area, but the removable showerhead made the size manageable, and its location probably won’t matter for couples. The only sink is by the bed, which is a little odd but fine. The bed was very comfortable for two, and it made for a cozy place to stay while exploring the city. Just remember the house wasn’t originally designed as a hotel room, so they’ve made the best of an unconventional space.

The canal views from the window were stunning, and watching boats pass through the bridge was fascinating. It was a nice, clean room in a unique spot, close to some shops. Trams were the only downside, as they made a lot of noise passing by, but that’s to be expected. A great alternative to a usual hotel.

A very cozy room in a handy spot close to public transport. The tram crossing the bridge can get a little loud at night. I’d have liked a full-length mirror, but it was a good experience.
