A beautiful, characterful Parc. The single rooms are simple but perfectly fine. Breakfast and drinks are included, which is a great extra for the price.

The breakfast was excellent, with loads of options laid out nicely. I also appreciated the free coffee and tea station, available around the clock, and the ginger and lemon infused drinks. The minimalist design was interesting, and parking near the rooms made unloading easy. The breakfast area was in the same building as the rooms, which was convenient. The property is surrounded by greenery, and it’s about a 20-minute drive from Utrecht. We only stayed one night and didn’t have much time to explore outside. Our room’s shower was small, though manageable for one person. Some of the artwork felt unusual. One colleague’s room had a piece that seemed odd and could affect some guests’ mood, so more neutral decor might work better. We checked out early in the morning without any problems, and everything was in order.

The kitchen’s vegetarian choices at breakfast and lunch were the highlight for me. As a vegetarian, I often have trouble finding suitable food while travelling, so I’d like to thank the chef. The staff we met were all friendly and pleasant. The setting is beautiful, and the hotel seems considerate of nature and the environment. For a single night on a business trip, it suited me well. For a private holiday, though, I’d want a better room. Mine was very small, with a mini single bed that would barely fit a tall person, and the bathroom was integrated into the room. Other reviewers have already posted plenty of pictures. The towels weren’t all in good shape, but since it was just one night and the hotel focuses on environmental friendliness, I didn’t ask for replacements. The food was good, though I can’t say much about the drinks. Overall, a good hotel for its setting, environmental approach and staff.

The staff were consistently friendly, attentive and willing to help, from reception to the restaurant. The hotel also sits in a peaceful natural setting that’s nice for walking or cycling, and there’s covered bike storage. Those were the best parts of our stay. We had 7 people across 5 rooms at Landgoed de Horst, and left quite disappointed. The grounds are spread out, so getting between the parking lot, reception, rooms and restaurant meant long walks, especially inconvenient with luggage or in bad weather. One morning, a tractor mowed the lawn right outside the rooms before 8:00 a.m. That’s much too early for such noisy work at a place marketed for rest and relaxation. The food tasted good, but restaurant service was slow and listed ingredients, including “crispy garlic,” were missing. Room water was sold only in tiny 0.2-liter bottles, even though some rooms had complimentary water. That inconsistency was frustrating. The rooms looked modern at first, but weren’t especially comfortable or practical. We noticed loose socket covers, missing towel holders and other small faults. Some had two glass walls, including one facing an open hallway, which gave very little privacy and won’t suit everyone. One room booked and paid for with twin beds wasn’t set up that way. The extra twin-bed fee was refunded without trouble, but charging extra for it seemed unusual. At check-in, a group member was even given the key to an already occupied room, an unacceptable mistake for a hotel in this category. The atmosphere felt more like a modern youth hostel than a proper hotel. The lovely setting and helpful staff couldn’t make up for the organizational and structural problems. I can’t recommend this hotel and won’t stay here again.

We had a work offsite here, and the natural surroundings were so beautiful!
