Hotel Hestia

We were traveling around The Netherlands and picked a restaurant at random. What a lucky choice, finding Hestia! The meal was delicious, and the service was great even though we don't speak Dutch. Greek restaurants in Germany often use a lot of oil and fat, but that wasn't the case here. Thanks so much.

The food arrived warm in under half an hour, and it was really tasty, nicely seasoned, and not too salty like it often is at other Greek restaurants. The fries could've used a little more time in the fryer. I'll definitely order again.

Check-in was a breeze, and there's free street parking nearby, around the crossing rather than right outside. The staff were super friendly, the rooms spacious, and the food was good too.

Eijsden has several cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, and supermarkets, and it's quiet while still being close to Maastricht and the surrounding countryside. Maastricht is about 6 miles away, an easy drive or bike ride. You can take the small foot and bike ferry across the Meuse for a hilly route on the Belgian side, or ride the flat Dutch side. The photos show sunset over the Meuse with the ferry moored, and bikes and foot passengers aboard. Our room was a good size, and breakfast was freshly made. Dinner at the Greek restaurant was generous and very good. The staff were friendly and attentive. Nico welcomed us, spoke good English, and explained everything we needed to know. The rooms are above the Greek restaurant and have their own stairway entrance, with no lift. If you get there early, the place may be closed and empty, but there's a small bar opposite where you can wait. Don't park on Diepstraat, it's for local residents and others can be fined. The free parking bays opposite the side entrance are limited.
