Kumo Hostels

The location is amazing, the staff are really nice, and the showers have hot water. Still, it feels very expensive for a cheaply built sleeping pod. The bed is uncomfortable because of the bad design, and you have to put the sheets on yourself. Apparently that’s deliberate, since they charge a 100€ fine if they find the bed without sheets, which is ridiculous. It feels like they just don’t want to pay another employee to do something any reasonable place would handle. If you have no other choice, it’s not that bad, but I wouldn’t choose to stay again.

The staff were kind, professional, and helpful from my first day, and the hostel was spotless. My stay at PJs Hostel was comfortable and enjoyable, with quiet rooms and shared spaces that were good for resting and studying. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, peaceful, well-organized hostel in Groningen, and I’d happily stay again.

The beds aren’t made, the WiFi doesn’t work, and there’s no kitchen or shared space. Bright lights stay on in the rooms all night and can’t be switched off.

The bed was comfy, the room felt private, and the staff were friendly. But the included breakfast was terrible for 12 euros. We waited about 20 minutes for the food and drinks, could choose just one drink, and got only a tiny amount of yogurt, about three spoonfuls, and one piece of bread. We left hungry, so I’d get breakfast elsewhere.
