Intercityhotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

After trying several hotels during my frequent business trips to Hoofddorp, this one has been the best value for money by far. Staff are friendly and helpful, and both breakfast and dinner are great. The rooms are clean and pleasant, although I'd prefer a slightly firmer mattress. It's dog friendly, which not every hotel in Hoofddorp is, including N…tel. Parking right behind the hotel is reasonably priced, and both Hoofddorp station and the business district are about a five-minute walk away. I'll definitely be back.

We enjoyed our short layover here. The staff were really kind, and breakfast was good. There was a shuttle between the airport and hotel, and buses and trains were close by. The hotel also has conference facilities, a sauna, and a small fitness room.

The rooms were big, clean, and very nice, and the hotel worked well for my morning ticket to Keukenhof gardens because of its location near Schiphol Airport. My one service complaint: I only wanted a coffee in the morning and was sent to the breakfast area to use one of the automatic cappuccino machines. At the bar I was charged the espresso-machine cappuccino price for it, which is why I took off a service star.

The fire alarm at around 2 a.m. on Sunday was the most worrying part of my stay. It clearly said to leave the building by the stairs, but the two staff members on the ground floor ran around trying to silence it and told people to go back to their rooms, saying there was no problem. I ignored them because you shouldn't re-enter a building that might be on fire. People were wandering around confused, while staff did nothing to evacuate them. That was very concerning. The rooms look modern and are quiet, though the bed quality is debatable and down to preference. Breakfast was edible, but the very average selection wasn't worth the extra cost. The hotel is fairly close to the station only if you can manage several steep steps by the canal. It took me a good 5 to 10 minutes, so I wouldn't call it next to the station. Not a great stay for a hotel brand I've usually had good things to say about.
