Luxury City Apartment Monsieur Philippe

A charming, nicely decorated apartment in a very central part of Leeuwarden. It’s a great base for spending a week getting to know the city.

My partner and I had a great stay here, and it turned out to be such a good choice. The beds were super comfortable, there was a rain shower and the kitchen had everything we actually needed. Breakfast was delicious, organic and locally sourced, a lovely way to start the day. The location was great too!

The floors are pretty uneven, so it takes a little getting used to, but this is a truly wonderful place to stay. The apartment is in a very old house and has a cool, tasteful interior. You get into the right mood as soon as you walk in. Highly recommend it as a base for exploring Leeuwarden.

The apartment is in a prime spot in Leeuwarden and looks chic, but staying there felt like being watched all the time and living in a greenhouse. Every morning the hostess messaged me to say the room temperature was “too high,” which made it feel as if my landlord were joining me at breakfast on vacation. The walls are so thin that by 7:00 a.m. you can hear exactly who’s showering or having breakfast. The bedroom windows were so damp you could practically watch mold grow. I have photos. There was also a constant musty smell, and when I turned the heating up to a balmy 23 degrees Celsius, a €50 “penalty bill” arrived in my mailbox. Paying extra for a basic necessity, on top of the lack of privacy and clean air, was absurd. If privacy, cleanliness and a normal room temperature matter to you, stay somewhere else.
