The staff were nice, and the main room was spacious, but this was a really bad place to stay. We could hear everything from the neighboring room. When someone opened a door there, we got startled, thinking ours had opened, even in the middle of the night. The windows did nothing to block noise from the paved street, next door, or the staircase, so we barely slept. The towels had been washed but didn't feel clean, and there were red marks on them, maybe lipstick or blood. The bathroom was tiny. Its toilet roll holder was broken, and there wasn't room to hang both sets of towels.

There was no receptionist when I arrived. I used a code for the main door, then picked up the room key. The hotel is close to the centre and the bridge, which was great. My room was clean and large, with a very nice view of the historic church.

The staff were very nice, and the location was perfect for a short trip to Maastricht. The rooms are quite small, but the price was reasonable.

The walls let through a lot of sound. In the morning, we could hear every conversation in the hall, including the receptionist enthusiastically greeting each guest who came into the common room ;). The shared bathroom and toilet were clean, and the room was decent. The beds were comfortable, though a bit short for me, and checking in late was easy with the door code. Close to Vrijthof, it's a decent place for a single night, but I wouldn't recommend a longer stay.

The view of the central square and church was great, and the location was excellent. The room was decent for the price, though it could have been cleaner. Breakfast was disappointing: the croissants were hard and the cooked eggs didn't taste fresh. The hospitality could have been warmer, too.
