The room was lovely and spacious, with tall ceilings and huge windows. It had a big double bed, wardrobe, desk, armchairs, full length mirror, TV (which I didn’t use), kettle, cups, tea, and instant coffee. The bathroom came with a bathtub, soap, shampoo, hairdryer, and bathrobe. There are no blackout curtains, which didn’t matter in late October, but in summer I’d have been awake at dawn. Breakfast cost 15eu and was good and varied, with pastries, cold meats, boiled eggs and omelette, yoghurt, and fruit salad. The breakfast experience really brought my morning down. I was travelling alone and was seated right by the kitchen door, with staff constantly walking behind me and leaving the door open so cold, drafty air came in. I asked to move since three other small tables were free, but was told this was the one person table. I got up a few times to close the door, but they didn’t seem to get the message, and it almost felt as if they were leaving it open on purpose. When I poured coffee, the woman told me I could help myself to butter, then spoke to me like a teacher scolding a child when I did, saying I could ask for more. I regretted paying for breakfast, especially with other lovely options nearby where you get to choose your table. They only keep your luggage until 13 hrs, which isn’t ideal if you’ve come to Maastricht to shop. I should have checked in advance, but I didn’t expect that. A lovely woman at one of the shops ended up holding my bag for me. I have mixed feelings. The accommodation and breakfast are good value for money, but I missed the kindness and personal touch I’d expect from a B&B. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone travelling solo. The double room costs the same for single use as it does for two people, yet somehow you don’t get treated as nicely. Despite liking the room, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The owners were very helpful and hospitable, and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were cozy, very clean, and in a genuine historic building where they’ve done their best to preserve some of the old atmosphere. It’s perfect if you like somewhere different and appreciate the details, though it’s not for anyone looking for five-star facilities.

The location was perfect, right in the middle of everything and just a five minute walk from the Spartan Race. The staff were amazing and even offered to let us park our “big American vehicle” in their private back lot for a small fee. Absolutely awesome experience, a real European experience.

It was good, but felt a bit overpriced to us, especially since breakfast wasn’t included. The rooms were somewhat noisy, and we could easily hear the neighbours. I also got the impression that being friendly took quite a bit of effort for the hostess.
