The stairs were the biggest problem for us. They’re extremely steep, narrow, and winding, with no elevator, so carrying luggage felt almost impossible. They seemed unsafe even for adults, especially with a child. I later came across other reviews saying the stairs may not meet Dutch safety regulations, and I can believe that. The host’s long, strict instructions also made the stay stressful. They came across as intimidating, and we felt watched instead of welcomed. The apartment itself was very average. With access this difficult, I’d have expected a kind and understanding host, but that wasn’t our experience. This was one of our worst apartment stays, and I’d advise choosing somewhere else if safety, comfort, and a positive stay matter to you.

The studio itself was decent and well located in Rotterdam, though the sink in the toilet didn’t work. What made this a very bad stay was the access: the stairs are dangerous, and I don’t think they comply with Dutch regulations. We asked to cancel because of the safety concerns, but the host refused.

The tram stop is very close, and using it is easy with tap on, tap off. I expected noise when we arrived, but it turned out to be quiet. The place was clean and well equipped, with a washing machine, dishwasher, and air conditioning. Oddly, the air con is above the door down the hall, away from the living area. There’s very little room along one side of the bed, which on reflection was too large for the space. The stairs are steep with narrow steps, so luggage is awkward to carry.

The location is good, but I wouldn’t suggest this place for a family with children. I booked for two adults and a two-year-old, and we were put on the third floor with no elevator. The stairs were the steepest and narrowest I’ve ever seen. For one person or a couple without kids, it should be fine.
