Hotel Poseidon Scheveningen

The rooms are large and clean, the prices are low, and the staff are extremely helpful and nice. It’s also a great base for exploring Den Haag. There were two minor issues: only one window opens, and only a little. That might be fine in fall or winter, but I think summer could get really hot. Also, each morning there was a bad smell of smoke coming through the bathroom ventilation. I’d absolutely recommend the hotel in fall, winter and maybe spring too.

I’ve never had such poor service at a hotel. The room was quite cold, there was no hand soap or blanket, and I couldn’t get the Wi-Fi code without the hassle of messaging the property manager. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room was a real disappointment for the price. It was tiny, with only a bed, a small closet and a little refrigerator, and hardly any space to move around. I don’t know the usual hotel rates in The Hague, but at €60 a night for a 14-day stay I think the room should have been better. There’s no receptionist, so you communicate with the owner. He was kind, but replies could take several hours. On the plus side, the location is excellent, near both the beach and the heart of the city, and you can use a phone app for the key.

Good value, and communication with the hotel was good even though they manage it remotely.
