Auberge du Bonheur

We even hired bikes to explore the park around the hotel, and breakfast turned out to be worth adding: there was a good mix of sweet and savory food. We only stayed one night at Auberge Du Bonheur, but were very happy with our choice. The hotel was spotless and the amenities were excellent. A special thank you to Loes, who kindly answered our questions and was so thoughtful and helpful. Highly recommend!

The setting is lovely and peaceful, though it's a bit outside town, so getting to Tilburg isn't ideal. Taxis were expensive and hard to find. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and check-in was easy. The hotel charged 245€ for one night, then another 25€ for checking out 45 minutes late, at 11:45 instead of 11:00. I understand that's company policy, but it still felt audacious. I paid 270€ without breakfast, which is definitely pricey and left me with mixed feelings. They could have been more generous about the late checkout.

Our room on the second floor was big enough for three and had a balcony. The hotel is surrounded by trees, so you can barely hear the nearby main road, and the location is great. Breakfast at the restaurant next door was really, really good. A couple of small things could be improved: there's no divider between the rooms on the balcony, so you can see inside when you step out. The shower only has combined soap and shampoo, so bring your own shampoo and conditioner. There wasn't any conditioner, and no shelf in the shower for the bottles we brought.

Dinner was fantastic, and the service was just as good. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the room was comfortable. What a lovely surprise, a little gem with a delicious dinner menu, easily 10/10. The next day we walked through Oude Warande, right beside the hotel. It was built by the German Prince Wilhelm Von Hessen-Kessl in 1712, and it's one of the coolest baroque woods in the Netherlands, with lots of trails for walking and cycling.
