Hotel de Markt

We had a very pleasant weekend at the hotel. The rooms were clean, and the staff were helpful. It’s right in the city center, with shops, cafes, and bars nearby. This was the best price we found in the area. I’d recommend it to everyone.

Everything is close, and the location is very good, with the bus stop just a short walk away. The room service did its job, and the price was reasonable. I didn’t have the noise problems mentioned in earlier reviews, though perhaps that’s more of a weekend issue. I’d ordered a double bed but got two singles, maybe because of a mix-up on the website. Still, I liked it.

I’ve never stayed in a dirtier hotel. The room was freezing, toxic mold was on the ceiling above the bed, and water was leaking from underneath the bed. I slept in my winter jacket and got sick, probably from the mold’s toxic gases. Nobody was at reception, so we couldn’t even switch rooms. I still haven’t had a response to my refund request. If they don’t return my money today, I’ll file a criminal complaint against the hotel.

There was no staff on site during my stay, and the keys had been left out so we could get into the hotel. The owner also couldn’t provide a company invoice. I called several times and sent several emails, but no one ever replied. Very poor service overall.
