Apart from the location, I can't find anything positive about this stay. The bed was very uncomfortable, and although the listing included a hairdryer, it was missing. We told the owner on the first day. He said he'd bring one the next morning, but didn't, even after several reminders, so I bought one to avoid wasting time. Later, while we were out, he entered the apartment without permission, left a hairdryer on the counter and didn't lock the door, leaving our belongings unsecured. I asked for the hairdryer cost back, but after two weeks got only 35%. Poor communication and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend it.

Bergen Beds was a great stay. The room was quite modern, even though the building itself wasn't, and the price was good for such decent rooms.

The room was small, dirty and very dusty, and it was freezing when we arrived. The place is far from the center. For 750nok a night, I'd have liked a little more service. I don't recommend it.

A comment I sent to Christopher Elliot, travel advisor/columnist about laughing at travel tragedy. Bergen Beds really was a travel tragedy. We were on a four-week road trip from Copenhagen, through Jutland and into Norway, with a few nights in Uskedalen before Bergen. We had around a dozen Airbnbs booked. Two days before Bergen, Airbnb canceled the very nice place we'd reserved because of a plumbing problem. While hiking, we panicked and booked somewhere else without doing our due diligence, though I'm not sure that would've helped. We also needed somewhere to leave our luggage for a few hours before check-in because of other plans. At 4 PM we went in the front door. The “host” said our apartment, one of five, had an “E” on it. There wasn't one. We went up and down the stairs, found nothing, and finally guessed it was the door with no letter. The code gave a red light every time, even with other travelers trying to help. We were soaked, as you tend to get in Bergen, and couldn't reach the “host.” Then we opened the shoe bin in the hall, where we'd been asked to leave our shoes. There was a key inside, with no mention of a key beforehand. It worked, and let us into a room smaller than a dorm room, with a double bed only a bit bigger than a twin. It had concrete floors, a bathroom window with no shade facing an active driveway, and drawers of tableware and utensils too high for me to reach without a stool. There wasn't a stool. We contacted the “host” and said we were leaving after 20 minutes. We booked a hotel for a few hundred dollars more, but he refused to refund us. He then turned us over to an AI bot that gave stupid answers. We kept going back and forth with the bot and Airbnb, which said it was only a third-party operation. Somehow I got them to agree the situation was awful and deceitful, and they refunded us. Two days after we left a scathing one-star review, our Airbnb app showed a lovely review saying we were perfect guests, communicated well and left the place in perfect shape. At 4:20 PM we weren't laughing. Now we are. They who laugh last laugh loudest. We also laugh and smile at the torrential rain. We still love Norway.
