Scandic Flesland Airport

The walk to the airport terminal took longer than I expected, around 15 minutes along a pedestrian and bike path, with one road crossing. It’s fairly level, though, and manageable. The lobby machine for printing a boarding pass and baggage tag was very convenient. This is a modern, high-tech hotel with attractive design, an impressive lobby and public areas, and a glass-and-mirror elevator. The buffet was fine, and staff were helpful, including at reception very early in the morning.

A typical swanky Scandic, and perfectly fine overall. It’s one of the farthest hotels from the airport, so getting from the terminal is a bit of a schlep. Our accessible room was great, with a lovely accessible bathroom. The only real letdown was that the bar doesn’t make cocktails.

The airport is only a five-minute walk away, and the location is very good. Rooms are nice and breakfast is good. Check-in can take a while sometimes, since there’s only one receptionist. The bar’s good too, though the menu is quite simple and doesn’t offer many choices.

The restaurant staff and food were excellent, but the front desk and customer support handled our booking badly. We reserved for four adults through Scandic’s website and arrived to find one double bed and one child-size bed. Reception admitted the room didn’t match, but said they couldn’t help because we’d booked online rather than by phone. Customer support then said the hotel had no rooms for four adults, so we were asked to book another room. We paid for an extra room for one night while planning to change hotels. The next day, after we said we’d check out, a proper room for four adults suddenly became available and was given to us. That was clearly what we’d originally booked. There was no explanation, just lots of dodging. We stayed polite and got nowhere. Tip: be firm if their system messes up.
