Hovdetun - Gjøvik Vandrerhjem - Hostel

We were exhausted by the time we arrived at 1:30 in the morning. After calling twice that afternoon, we'd been assured the room would be ready and someone would be at reception overnight. But the person at the desk couldn't find our key, so he gave us a copy. When we opened the door, there was already a guest inside, and we woke them up. Reception found us another room, but there was a long cleaning sweeper in the bathroom. He apologized several times and said this kind of thing was normal in a hostel. We didn't want any more surprises, so we left and found another hotel nearby. They didn't refund us a penny. I wouldn't recommend this hostel.

The breakfast was included and had a really generous spread, including salmon, which surprised me for a hostel. The place was fresh and clean, with tidy showers and toilets. There’s a spacious, pleasant lounge on the first floor and a terrace with a lovely view. The kitchen was well equipped too. Great value for the price.

You get a lot for the price here: a very generous breakfast, clean rooms, lovely views, and friendly staff. The neighborhood is quiet, and the station is a 15-20 minute walk away. Compared with cheaper places in other parts of Europe, this offers more. When an issue came up, they sorted it out right away.

We had enough parking for our car, and finding the hostel and checking in were both hassle-free. It's in a quiet, pleasant spot with wonderful views around it. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and breakfast had a decent range of options. A good-value choice for a short stay.
