Marta was especially kind and made sure we had breakfast to take along when we needed to leave early. We also had a lovely view from the room, comfortable beds, and a warm shower. Excellent service, and I’d happily recommend it.

We could watch a trawler unload its catch from the guests’ terrace at 15:30. The place is right at the far end of the harbour, with friendly staff and reasonable prices, and it wasn’t as overrun as the more central restaurants. The bathroom was clean, and bus 743 stops right in front of the hotel.

The rooms are basic, and the outside bar was covered in seagull poop and didn’t feel very clean. Fish deliveries leave a strong smell in the building. At €145/Nok1600 a night, I didn’t think it was worth the price, though it’s only a 10-minute walk from the city centre. Not terrible, just disappointing.

We were pretty sceptical about the dinner at first, but the handmade pizza was crisp and really good. We only stayed one night, so didn’t try the other dishes, though the ones we saw looked just as promising. Breakfast was a solid basic buffet, and the music in the dining room was excellent. The hotel sits by the harbour in Henningsvær, with views of the nearby mountains or water. There’s a faint fish smell, which makes sense in a fishing village with a huge fish store next door. It used to be a factory, and the old cranes for unloading ships are still there and seem to be in use. The vintage structure is visible, but the building is in terrific shape after what looks like a basic renovation. The floor in our room sloped a little, just part of the building’s character. Our bathroom was small but clean and had the basics. The shower curtain kept creeping towards you while showering, so a glass door or cabin would be better. It’s a lovely location, and we’d stay and eat here again.
