Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel

We spent two nights here and were out exploring most of the time, so the slightly small room wasn’t a problem. The staff were kind and helpful. For my wife’s birthday, I’d asked for a bottle of wine in the room, and they also left a complimentary cake. Thank you! Breakfast was plentiful, and we never felt rushed.

The fitness room was small but enough for us, and the free water was a nice touch. The treadmill faces the courtyard, which isn’t a very pleasant view. The location is ideal for sightseeing, but our daily room cleaning was missed. After we complained, they cleaned the room the following day, though they forgot to replace the bin liner. At check-in, nobody mentioned that breakfast was included, and the person helping us seemed uninterested and not very helpful. The email support before our stay was much better.

The room itself was comfortable and had good amenities. I’d give the hotel five stars for that part, but the restaurant experience left a sour taste. On the first morning, after a night of travel, I was told to leave at 10.10am. I know breakfast ends at 10am, but I was just finishing what was already on my plate and wasn’t getting more food. I had to rush and leave some of it behind. The next day I’d already given my room number at the entrance, but the same staff member asked me again while I was serving myself. It felt insulting, as he could have waited until I sat down or asked more politely. It almost felt like I was being challenged about whether I was allowed to be there.

I recently stayed at the Radisson RED Oslo, and it fell short of what I expect from a Radisson. When I arrived, I saw that the current rate was several hundred NOK lower than what I’d booked. The front desk said they couldn’t change it because I’d accepted the original booking terms. I’d only given my details at check-in before heading out to explore around 1:00 PM, since the room wasn’t ready. When I came back, they’d completed check-in without my final confirmation, so cancelling and booking again at the lower price seemed impossible. A staff member named Elio (?) was very kind and tried to help. With his assistance we did manage to cancel and rebook at the lower rate, but it took nearly half an hour. I was also assigned an interior room facing the emergency stairs. Work started outside early in the morning, including a loud utility vehicle, so opening the window or resting comfortably wasn’t possible. As a regular Radisson guest, I expected more consideration with the room assignment and guest comfort. Breakfast runs until 10:00, but when I arrived at 9:00 several items were missing or hadn’t been replenished. I asked for tuna or another fish option and was told they only had what was already out. Restocking clearly wasn’t consistent, and that affected the breakfast experience. I left disappointed and don’t plan to return. I have a trip to Milan next month, and I’ll think carefully about booking with Radisson again.
