The host, Ellen, and the rest of the staff were fantastic. They serve great food throughout the day in an atmospheric courtyard, and it’s a fun historic building to stay in. Sound carries between rooms, but we didn’t mind much. Expect tourist prices for both food and lodging.

The location is tucked away from the main street, which is the best reason to come. Food was just fine at best, and definitely priced for tourists. We had goulash that was OK, though I wouldn’t have been surprised if it came from a can. The rømmegrøt wasn’t for us, but judging by the people around us, it seems to be what many come for. If you like it, you’ll probably enjoy the place. The waffle was the best and cheapest thing on the menu. Otherwise, not much to recommend beyond the setting.

I rarely leave a bad review, but this was shocking. I’ve worked professionally in hospitality as a travel agent and visited more than 100 countries, and I was stunned by the lack of hospitality. The cafe looked gorgeous, cozy and authentic, just the sort of small local place I like to support. But after exactly 23 minutes, we were told to leave because new people were coming in 30 minutes. We were told to go right then, not soon, and couldn’t even move to another table. I hadn’t finished my drink or cake. There were lots of empty tables, and just one other couple, who left too, probably embarrassed they might get the same treatment. I know COVID made things stressful for everyone, especially hospitality workers. One of the women there was nice, and I hope the other has better days ahead. Rudeness doesn’t get you far. Be nice or stay home.

The little cottage is idyllic, with a small beergarden, and the common area is really comfortable. Our room was a good size, and the view of the church was lovely. The location is perfect. The host was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home during our one-night stay. We wished we could have stayed longer. Worth a visit!

This cafe is wildly overpriced. The old-fashioned look seems to draw tourists in, but I felt it was a waste of money. The soup and porridge come from plastic bags, the soup is reused for up to three days, and the cakes are frozen. Nothing is made there. Go have a look if you like, but I wouldn’t buy anything.
