The man handling reception, dinner and breakfast was a great host and made the whole visit enjoyable. Dinner was excellent, while the buffet breakfast was okay. It’s a comfortable, centrally located hotel. The building dates to 1956, so it’s a bit dated, but it worked well enough for a one-night stay.

We were the only people in the restaurant, so there should have been plenty of time to prepare the meals properly. My wife’s dish was so wrong that we sent it back twice, then ended up sharing my plate. Nobody apologized or offered to take it off the bill. My own meal was a basic, grandma-style version. Don’t expect the quality to justify the price.

The rooms are very basic and tired, but the staff are great. It’s right in the center of town, and the food is good value.

The restaurant and chef went out of their way to make me a meal that wasn’t on the menu, to accommodate my health condition. Thank you so much! The family-run hotel’s staff clearly care about guests’ comfort and well-being, and the owners are exceptionally nice. My room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable, the shower had great water pressure, and the WiFi was fast and free. The hotel is cozy and central, with free parking, a grocery store next door, other shops close by, and Rjukan’s sights within easy reach.

The interior upgrade has made the hotel a much more pleasant place to stay, and Rjukan finally has a hotel with decent prices to be proud of. The staff are hospitable and made sure we were well looked after. Dinner was awesome and made our stay much better. Rjukan has a new place for high-quality food, and breakfast was a good start to the day.
