Tor Appartment

The best part was the night view from our window. The rest of our stay at Arctic Mary Rooms "Hotel" was a different story. Outside, there was a pile of junk stacked up by the nice front door, and I needed a torch to use the noisy key code pad. Boots scattered across the hall made me trip as I came in. Our room was described as Superior, but there was no mention that the bathroom and toilet were shared. We each had just one thin pillow. I contacted the manager, who had emailed us inviting requests for anything we needed, but he never replied. We rolled up our quilts for pillows and used our winter coats as blankets. The kitchen table, counters, sink, and hob were covered with old dirty dishes and food scraps. The dishwasher was crammed full and didn't work, and there wasn't a clean cup or plate. There were cigarette ends outside our room, and people smoked at the open front door. The stairs to the bathroom and toilet were constantly pounded up and down. People played loud music in the shower, left wet towels on the floor, and the shower was dirty and full of product bottles. There was smeared excrement on the toilet seat, which I had to clean before using it, and a blood smear on the wall by the bin. At 0130 on the second night, someone rang the loud doorbell every few seconds for about 30 minutes. At 0155 there was loud shouting inside, and I had to get up and call down for quiet. On the third night, the room beside ours had been double booked. A family was thrown out after midnight, followed by 45 minutes of crashes and yelled arguments in italian.
