Tromsø Bed & Books

Wall-to-wall bookshelves give the place its character the moment you arrive. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and they worked around my awkward arrival and departure times. This is easily one of my favourite places I've stayed. I'll come back next time I'm in Tromsø.

Friendly, lovely service, and the rooms are quaint and nicely put together. It's a good spot to meet people. A little pricey for a hostel, though reasonable by Norway standards. Most rooms fit two or three, so sharing makes it better value.

We stayed from 25-Feb to 01-Mar-2019. Tromso accommodation is very expensive, even compared with Oslo or Bergen. This place is about a 20-minute walk from the city centre, possibly longer in winter, and around 10 minutes on foot from the nearest bus stop at Polaria. The bedroom was small, and five bedrooms shared two bathrooms. The shared living rooms were spacious, and there was also a kitchen, washing machine, and dryer. The kitchen had what we needed, including a fridge, microwave, oven, electric stove, and sink, plus basics like olive oil, salt, and pepper, so cooking helped with the budget. I'd have given it five stars if the snowy steps up to the entrance hadn't made access difficult. The snow on the stairs was quite deep.

The rooms were decent and could get warm enough. The whole house was very clean, and being able to cook for yourself was a big plus. The staff were friendly and helpful too.
