The spa was a decent size and felt clean and cozy, with multiple saunas and several cold exposure options. The gym was modern, very clean, and well stocked. The rooms were great, and the service was even better. It was quiet and calm throughout, and the whole place felt like an international five-star hotel. Palmehaven is a must visit, one of Trondheim's most special spots for breakfast, brunch, or afternoon tea. We stayed three days and enjoyed using Britannia as our base for exploring the city. Everything is within walking distance, including the train station, and the pomo museum is across the road and worth a visit. This might be the best hotel in Norway, and it's 100% the best in Trondheim and mid-Norway.

Still the best in Trondheim. The staff are respectful, and the service, including room service, was excellent. The rooms are old works, and the hotel has that grand, old tradition of fine service and older values with a modern slant. My only observation is that the entrance seems to be modern in character with the history and feel of the building. If there's ever a revamp, I think it should go back to a more old works entrance.

We had dinner both nights in the Brasserie. It was casual, with really good food and service. Thanks, Isabella! The bar was a lovely black-and-white room, with cocktails and art named after previous staff, great champagne by the glass, and wonderful staff. Breakfast was one of the best I've had, with more than just fresh omelettes cooked to order. Our Superior room was small and looked out onto a brick wall, but the stay was still great. The bed was very comfortable, and having the TV built into the wall mirror made the room easy to be in. A beautiful hotel in Trondheim. We loved it.

The social side of breakfast is what makes Palmehagen special for us. Tables are spaced well, the acoustics are pleasant, and it's easy to talk and connect over the meal. This has become a cherished Christmas tradition: we've spent Christmas morning here three years in a row, and finding the place is easy when it's part of a familiar annual ritual. The selection this year felt more curated and streamlined than on earlier visits. There was less variety, but the food was fresh, well prepared, nicely presented, and high quality. The smaller selection perhaps encourages people to slow down and enjoy the meal and conversation. The welcome was warm and professional. We were greeted in English, a little unexpected in Norway, but politely and with a smile. The waitstaff were attentive, helpful, and discreet, with a calm, classic elegance. Palmehagen at Britannia Hotel is a majestic place for breakfast in Trondheim, with a strong reputation and undeniable bragging factor. We saw familiar faces and well-known personalities in the breakfast room again, small details that quietly underline the hotel's standing and appeal. Coats go in an unattended cloakroom next to the breakfast area. Some people might hesitate about leaving valuables or expensive outerwear there, but it was perfectly fine for us and suited the relaxed, informal morning. As we left, we instinctively checked our coats were still there, and they were. I am certain we'll be back to Palmehagen at Britannia Hotel again.

The spa was amazing, and the hotel has great F&B options. Breakfast was one of the best I've had in a while, and the bar on the main level was phenomenal. We also had a gorgeous room in the historic part of the building. The bed was the problem. It was a very small queen, and the foot rest made it impossible for anyone 5'9" or taller to sleep properly. We were part of a large group, and it seemed to be an issue for everyone. Hopefully they update the bed frames to a five-star standard.
