Seaside Rentals

The view is what makes the place worth the money. Getting there was a hassle, though. You park by the road and then go down more than 50 stairs. Every time you leave the house, you have to climb them again, and they're not easy. There was snow and ice everywhere when we visited. Someone had shoveled some of it, but there was still ice. The house itself was fine, but heat only reached the first floor, leaving the upstairs bedrooms cold. The fifth bed was a ranch bed upstairs, folded shut with sheets to put on, but there wasn't enough room to open it, so the fifth person slept on the sofa. Cleanliness wasn't great: behind the sofa pillows were used tissues, the floor had some stains and dirt, and the bathroom smelled as if someone hadn't flushed the toilet. All in all, it was a fine experience living there.

The wonderful fjord view is a big plus, and the furnishings are modern. The terrace is beautifully designed and roomy enough for large groups. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you'll need, and the host was nice and friendly to deal with. But you have to park by the road and carry all your luggage down a long flight of stairs. If steep stairs are difficult for you, that could be a problem. When we arrived, there were moldy flowers in a glass on the floor, and a bad smell was coming from the washing machine drain. The tight, shaky spiral staircase up to the bedrooms could also be a problem if you're overweight or have trouble walking. The Wi-Fi was so poor it was nearly useless. We didn't sleep well: the big mattress overlaps the bed, and near the edge it feels like you could fall out. When one of us turned over at night, the other bounced around a lot. The other beds were uncomfortable too.

I wouldn't recommend this place. We'd booked and paid three months ahead, then got told it was canceled due to "overbooking" just 20 hours before we were due to arrive. No fun.

The view was fantastic, and the place was really clean. My friend and I had a lovely stay here. Greetings from Holland!
