Brakanes Hotel

There was no hot water, and the room smelled unpleasant throughout our stay. It was also in poor shape and clearly hadn’t been maintained properly. The hotel didn’t live up to what was advertised, and the whole visit fell well below what we expected. We regret booking here and can’t recommend it to other travelers.

The pools and saunas on site were a real plus, and the fjord-facing rooms are worth paying extra for if you’re traveling independently. The hotel’s setting is magical, the staff were helpful and friendly, and our clean, well-kept room was a decent size. Some rooms looked more recently updated than others. Breakfast had loads of choices, and everything we ordered from the dinner menu tasted great. One thing to plan around: tour buses bring large groups, often arriving around 5 pm. It wasn’t a big problem for us, but they take up much of the dining room, so reserve a dinner time ahead if you want to eat there.

The restaurant team deserves a special mention. The servers were professional, attentive, and charming, and the food was excellent. Outside, the Norwegian scenery was magical, with beautiful views right from the hotel. There were several fun activities to enjoy too. The hotel itself is lovely, and the service made our visit unforgettable. Highly recommended!

The breakfast had plenty of choices and was very good, and the restaurant is another good option. You can swim right in front of the hotel, and it’s pet-friendly. We had a large, clean room: the front ones look out over the fjord, while the back rooms face the mountain. The bathroom could use a renovation, though. It still has an old bathtub.
