Harati Manor Inn

We used this hotel through a trekking agency before and after our trek. The rooms, location, and service were all good. The awkward part came when we asked to add a night, since extra nights after the trek hadn't been included. The manager quoted around two to three times the rate of comparable hotels nearby, which struck us as a bit dishonest.

Murari and Sushil make you feel very welcome, and the rooms are great. The location is ideal, with everything only a few minutes away on foot. They can sort out all sorts of things, from rental gear and a massage after time in the mountains to a barber or organized trips, and they help keep you from being overcharged. Their contacts reach everywhere, even deep into the Karakorum. Make this your base and you'll have support throughout your trip. I really recommend the place and staff, 110%.

Harati Manor Inn on Gangalal Marg is a comfortable, welcoming spot in Kathmandu, with a calm feel despite being in the city. Its traditional Nepali decor gives the stay a distinctive touch, and the rooms are clean, cared for, and furnished with the essentials. The staff are hospitable and attentive when you have questions or need help. You can easily reach nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions from here, so it works as a base for either sightseeing or business. The peaceful surroundings and comfortable rooms make it a convenient place to stay.

For under £20 a night, the host is hard to beat and the complimentary breakfast is delicious. The location is excellent too, near plenty of local shops, cash machines, and pharmacies, while still away from the middle of tourist central. Rear-facing rooms can be very quiet. The rooms are basic and the bathroom was a little shan, but I'd still recommend this hotel in Kathmandu. You can find more luxurious accommodation if you're willing to pay for it.
