Hotel Melungtse

The gardens made the property feel especially peaceful, and the rooms were thoughtfully designed, stylish, and welcoming. I loved the building and the lovely setting too. Friendly staff and great service rounded out a wonderful stay at Hotel Melungtse. I'd happily recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

The staff behaved well, but international tourists may be at risk of being overcharged here. I booked through MakeMyTrip with breakfast for five adults and two children listed, then the breakfast was cancelled at the last minute. That left me with no breakfast option and caused a lot of trouble.

I felt relaxed and at home at Hotel Melungste, and the price seemed fair for the quality and atmosphere. This was my second visit, drawn back by the great energy. The place is carefully maintained, which suited my work well. Everyone, from the owner to the helpers and housekeepers, was warm and ready to help whenever I needed something. My room was on the lovely fourth floor, and I enjoyed working and doing yoga on the rooftop balcony. The WiFi was fast and dependable. I also liked the bathroom, especially compared with many I've used in Nepal, and the onsite laundry was better done than other laundry services I've tried there. The gardens and stairwells were looked after just as carefully as the rest of the property. During my eight nights, they offered to clean the room whenever I wanted, and each time the work was thorough, keeping it fresh and pleasant. I had breakfast there a few times, and the Heavy Breakfast was especially good value, with plenty of fresh food. I'd come back and recommend it :)

The rooms cost far too much, and there's no kitchen of their own for meals. Basic bathroom amenities were missing too. We found used soap in the room, and there were no bathroom slippers or water bottle. We had to ask separately for slippers. I'd strongly advise against staying here.
